10 Best Santa Barbara Wedding Venues

Hiring a Santa Barbara wedding videographer? Lock in your venue first. Where you say “I do” decides how your wedding film looks and feels, so this choice comes before everything else. Don’t stress, we’ve got your back. Santa Barbara has some of the best wedding venues in California, from beach clubs to vineyard villas to 1920s Spanish buildings a few steps from the sand. Below are our 10 favorites in Santa Barbara and the surrounding area. We also threw in the honest stuff couples wish they’d known before booking.

Cabrillo Pavilion Arts Center, Santa Barbara, CA

Cabrillo Pavilion Arts Center

The Cabrillo Pavilion is one of the best beach wedding venues in Santa Barbara. You get married on the sand at East Beach, then walk upstairs to a reception with the ocean right outside the windows. The building is from the 1920s and looks it, in a good way. Spanish Revival, two terraces over the water, and none of that cookie-cutter hotel ballroom feel. Up to 200 guests fit. Parking isn't included, so let your guests know street parking on Cabrillo Boulevard is free after 6pm. Dates book up to 18 months out. If you love it, book it.

Sunstone Vineyards

Sunstone Winery is a Santa Ynez wedding venue on a 55-acre vineyard estate, with the Santa Ynez Mountains in the background of every shot. The Villa looks like you flew to Provence for your wedding. Built with limestone shipped over from a small French village, plus wood beams and roof tiles salvaged from a 19th century lavender factory once owned by Queen Victoria. Yes, that Queen Victoria. You say your vows in the courtyard facing the vines, then party inside a building with more history than most castles. Try finding that at a hotel ballroom.

Four Seasons Resort The Biltmore Santa Barbara

The Four Seasons Resort The Biltmore is the classic Montecito wedding venue, open since 1927 and still the one everyone else gets compared to. Get married in the Escala Garden surrounded by tropical plants and old Spanish architecture. Or go full ocean view at the Coral Casino, a private art deco beach club right on the sand. The spa is on site too, so the morning-of is handled before you even leave the property. Old Hollywood used to hide out here. Now it's your turn.

Alisal Guest Ranch and Resort

Alisal Ranch is a 10,500-acre working cattle ranch in the Santa Ynez Valley, about 30 minutes from Santa Barbara. Clark Gable got married here back in 1949, so you're in good company. Say your vows on a bluff above the private lake, on a lawn by the creek, or under giant old sycamores. Fun fact, "Alisal" means grove of sycamores. Inside, think high beamed ceilings, stone fireplaces and big windows facing the hills. Plan a whole weekend, because your guests will want to ride horses, golf and hang by the lake before the big day.

San Ysidro Ranch | Santa Barbara Wedding

San Ysidro Ranch

San Ysidro Ranch is the Montecito wedding venue Hollywood has been sneaking off to for decades. Vivien Leigh and Laurence Olivier got married here in a secret midnight ceremony. JFK and Jackie spent their honeymoon in one of the cottages. The ranch sits in the foothills above Santa Barbara, surrounded by old oaks and citrus that goes back to its days as a working ranch. Best for small weddings with your closest people. Fair warning, this is a splurge. But if it fits your budget, you're getting married somewhere with a better love story than most movies.

Canary Hotel

The Kimpton Canary Hotel puts your wedding right in the middle of downtown Santa Barbara, a short walk from State Street. Get married up on the Rooftop Perch, with 360-degree views from the ocean all the way to the Santa Ynez Mountains. Prefer something indoors? Their Mediterranean-style ballrooms have you covered. The hotel fits anywhere from 10 to 140 guests, and all-inclusive packages take a lot of the planning off your plate. Book a room block and your guests get discounted rates, so nobody's driving home after the last dance. Need a Santa Barbara wedding videographer for a rooftop wedding? That's our favorite kind.

CaliPaso Winery

Worth the drive north. CaliPaso Winery and Villa in Paso Robles looks like someone picked up a Tuscan villa and dropped it in California wine country. Say "I do" in the courtyard, with a fountain and two winding staircases behind you. Then take the party out to the lawn for cocktails under the stars. Up to 300 guests can sit for the ceremony outdoors. Only seven rooms on site, each with its own fireplace, so book them early for you and your closest people. Everyone else? Paso Robles has around 200 wineries, so nobody's getting bored the day after.

Sogno del Fiore

Sogno del Fiore is a private Italian-style estate in Santa Ynez wine country, about 10 minutes from Solvang. Think a 3-acre vineyard, a saltwater pool, and market lights strung over everything. You get ready in the private bridal suite while the guys toss horseshoes out on the lawn. Then cocktail hour turns into bocce and drinks around the fire pits. Two cottages are on site too, so you can roll out of bed and into your wedding. For your Santa Barbara wedding videographer, a reception under all those lights is about as good as it gets on film.

Sherwood Country Club

Not in Santa Barbara, but close enough to make the list. Sherwood Country Club sits behind the gates of Lake Sherwood in Thousand Oaks, and it's about as fancy as SoCal weddings get. The grounds doubled as Sherwood Forest for an old Robin Hood movie, which is how the club got its name. You might also recognize it from Bridesmaids. Good news, it's a private club, but you don't need to be a member to get married here. Say your vows on the canopied terrace facing the Santa Monica Mountains, then party in a ballroom with a curved wall of windows. Up to 250 guests fit inside, or 300 out on the croquet lawn. Our Santa Barbara wedding videographer team has filmed plenty of country club weddings, so we know how to make a place like this look as good on film as it does in person.

Temecula Wedding Videographer

Zaca Mesa Winery

Zaca Mesa Winery is a Santa Ynez Valley wedding venue in Los Olivos, tucked into wine country with the San Rafael Mountains behind it. Say your vows on the Vineyard Lawn or under the big oak tree, then head inside to the View Room, where 9-foot glass doors open up to the whole estate. Room for up to 200 guests, or go small with their micro wedding package for up to 40. Couples keep calling out event manager Tara by name for keeping the day smooth. One heads up, you'll need to buy at least one case of Zaca Mesa wine for every 20 guests. Honestly? At a winery wedding, that's not exactly a hardship.
